I have such a hard time doing that-- I mean, drawing something spontaneously that actually looks nice. (How does one break out of needing a specific "motive" in order to put pencil to paper?)
I seem to remember in the movie "a sixth sense" where the psychologist (I think) had the boy scribble and soon it turned to writing from his subconscious.
I wonder if there's a sketch equivalent to that...
